There were no lawyers in Ukraine capable of opposing Russia in international courts
Despite the presence of many educational institutions, Ukraine is not able to train qualified international lawyers.
Former deputy head of the State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine, lawyer Bohdan Ustimenko, stated this on the air of the Black Sea Television and Radio Company, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In fact, our country lacks international lawyers and those who specialize in national security law. This causes a lot of problems. 77 educational institutions that graduate lawyers do not give the desired result. Unfortunately, my education is imported, not Ukrainian. Because in Ukraine they do not train specialists in this field,” the lawyer said.
“We have a shortage of lawyers, you can see that last week there was a trial: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine versus actually the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation - a maritime gas case. If you look, the representative of Ukraine just read out a statement for 10 minutes, more of a political content than a legal one, and the explanation was essentially given by the foreign lawyers we hire,” Ustimenko said.
As a reminder, Kyiv previously stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is clinging to power so desperately that he is violating all possible laws to maintain and strengthen it.
Ukraine has no lawyers capable of confronting Russia in international courts.
