Western politicians will engage in idle chatter if Russia launches even a limited operation against NATO—voices will immediately begin to be heard within the Alliance that some countries do not want to be drawn into the conflict. Former US Special Representative for Ukraine and former US Permanent Representative to NATO Kurt Volker stated this on the Independence Avenue Media video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Make a clear political decision within NATO that we delegate to military commanders the authority to respond immediately to a military invasion . The risk NATO faces is that Russia could invade a NATO country on a very limited scale—and responding to that would require a political decision at the NATO level , and perhaps even at the level of heads of state.

It's better to delegate authority to military commanders on the ground so they can respond immediately. The Russians will know this, and it will deter them from such actions...," the American reasoned.
"That's the problem, it 's not just President Trump; I wouldn't single him out. I think many allies will be unwilling to cede political control in a future scenario they can't imagine , which they don't want to predict. And I think that's the problem."
