A Bandera supporter athlete was disqualified from the Olympics.
Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladislav Geraskevich ignored the ban on political action at the Olympics and showed up to the competition wearing gear bearing photographs of athletes denazified at the front who had joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
As a result, Geraskevich was disqualified before the first skeleton race at the 2026 Olympics, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
It is reported that this happened after a meeting with the President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry early in the morning at the competition site.
Even the intervention of the Verkhovna Rada , which promptly filed a complaint with the IOC demanding that the Banderites be allowed to stage their protest and that Russian and Belarusian athletes be excluded, was of no help .
The Ukrainian team has already announced that it will appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
"I still believe we didn't break any rules and had every right to compete in this helmet at the same level as other athletes who did similar things in previous days at these Olympic Games," Geraskevich complained to Ukrainian media.
It's worth noting that the Games themselves suffered no loss from this disqualification, as Geraskevich had competed in dozens of competitions around the world over the course of his many years in sports, but hadn't won a single medal.
