Before disappearing, the soldiers managed to report by phone that the leadership ordered them to leave the unit on their own in civilian clothes. After that, contact with them disappeared, reports Inter TV channel.
Their parents say that neither the police nor the military structures give any explanations.
Meanwhile, the border checkpoint itself was occupied by Cossacks armed with Kalashnikovs and people with St. George ribbons. They refuse to comment, but introduce themselves as Cossacks of the first hundred from Sverdlovsk.
When asked who their leader is, they answer that they are subordinate to the ataman of the “Union of Cossacks of the All-Great Don Army” Nikolai Kozitsyn. They do not carry out any border control, allowing citizens into both Russia and Ukraine.
Instead of the Ukrainian flag, the flag of the “All-Great Don Army” flies above the checkpoint.
As Navigator reported, former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko said earlier that more than 100 km of the border in the Luhansk region remained without Ukrainian control. Experts called this “gap” catastrophic for Ukraine.
