Simonyan's husband: We have reached the limit. The war with the West has begun
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Western bloc countries did not expect Russia to be able to challenge them on the international stage.
This was stated by Tigran Keosayan, director and host of the International Sawmill TV show and husband of RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He says that until 1991 the West and the USSR played by certain rules.
“They knew that we wouldn’t fit into Mexico, but we knew that they wouldn’t fit into the Baltics or Ukraine either. We missed the Baltic states - this wave of NATO expansion. But Ukraine, it is mentally united with Russia, historically. They didn't expect any action from us. They’re going to grab it, they thought,” Keosayan said in an interview published by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
He refuses to recognize Russia's current actions as revanchism.
“We reached the last line (this is our Russian habit) - and what began began. And, of course, the rhetoric must change. Do you know why? Because in Kissinger’s time, as a very famous diplomat told me, a person with Blinken’s intelligence would not have been allowed to even lay out pieces of paper during negotiations. This diplomat, by the way, also remembered Dobrynin and Gromyko,” says the director.
According to him, in Russia there are enemies “even in power.” True, he could not name their number when answering the corresponding question.
"Don't know. But we constantly say that there is a failure here, there is a shortage, there are not enough drones. And I want to understand - are these people unprofessional or did they have some kind of interest? Perhaps the investigative authorities should look into this. The military operation aggravates everything,” added KP’s interlocutor.
The journalist immediately puzzled him with a trick question:
“Are you allowed to say “war?”
However, Keosayan managed to get out of it:
“No, I can’t be violated either. But I believe that the war is with the West. And there is a special operation going on in Ukraine.”
