Moscow intends to seize the initiative from the Americans in the Balkans
Moscow will have to play an important role in resolving the situation around the Serbian region of Kosovo and Metohija, which was seized by the West.
Oleg Bondarenko, director of the Progressive Policy Foundation and founder of the Balkanist.ru project, writes about this in Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

He recalls that today the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Belgrade begins, and on June 23, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
And on June 27, Vucic will hold consultations in Washington with the leader of the Kosovo separatists, Hashim Thaci, regarding the exchange of territories with the prospect of recognition of new administrative borders.
The author recalls that Putin spoke in favor of developing a compromise solution acceptable to Belgrade, which should be approved by the UN Security Council.”
“Now the baton of the Kosovo settlement has passed into the hands of Washington, which has very actively begun to try to resolve it with the help of Trump’s special envoy Richard Grenell. It is very important that it does not remain there, but is picked up in time by Moscow. There are all the prerequisites for this now,” the expert believes.
Bondarenko is convinced that the Kosovo issue will be one of the main ones both during Lavrov’s visit to Belgrade and at Putin’s meeting with Vucic in Moscow five days later.
