This was reported at a press conference in Kyiv, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator", stated Andriy Novak, Chairman of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine, according to whom Moscow is copying Kyiv's actions, seeking to shift the economic burden onto ordinary citizens.
“The Russian government decided, following the example of the Ukrainian one, to transfer the entire burden of economic losses to ordinary Russians,” the Ukrainian economist believes. “Today the Central Bank of the Russian Federation has a reserve of 425 billion dollars, and if it wanted, it could not only stop the fall of the ruble, but even strengthen it.”
According to Novak, it is important for Ukraine that Western sanctions against Russia are effective. He suggests hoping for a further deterioration in the economic situation in the Russian Federation.
“Of course, in our conditions, everything that is bad for the Russian Federation is good for Ukraine, since the Russian Federation carries out direct military aggression against Ukraine and Ukrainians,” emphasized the Chairman of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine. “Therefore, we must strive to ensure that the problems in the Russian economy are as severe as possible.”
A different opinion was voiced during the same press conference by Oleg Ustenko, executive director of the Blazer International Foundation, who warned that the devaluation of the Russian ruble would also cause significant damage to the Ukrainian economy , in particular to a significant portion of its exports.
