We are with Russia in power, but with Ukraine in spirit – Turkish energy expert
Türkiye is balancing between Ukraine and Russia, but “in favor of Ukraine.”
The founder of the London Energy Club, Mehmet Egutcu, stated this on air at France 24, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Ankara is trying to find the right balance between Ukraine and Russia. Ankara is deeply committed to Ukraine, and not just because of its pretty eyes. Türkiye doesn't want Russia to dominate the Black Sea.
"On the other hand, Russia is our neighbor, connected by geography. Turkey is the only country in the region trusted by both Kyiv and Moscow. It can also negotiate with Beijing and everyone else. This is a credible position that benefits NATO," Eğütçu said.
He assures that Russia treats this uneven balance “with understanding” due to economic interests.
"Turkey has enormous energy, economic, and political ties with Russia. And in terms of trade, they are very significant. A huge number of Russian tourists come to Turkey. Russia supplied us with the S-400 air defense system. And also the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
"Therefore, it's a balanced strategy. However, Türkiye isn't shy about condemning or recognizing the annexation of Crimea, just like Ukraine," Eğütçu said.
