Sea drones of the Murena type, footage of a combat test of which was recently shown, can block the coast of Odessa. But this requires their industrial production, and not “garage” assembly by a group of enthusiasts.

According to Kalashnikov, conditions have not yet been created in Russia for the mass production of unmanned boats - for this it is necessary to create cooperation between enterprises and involve government funding.
“Drones like Moray were made not by the state, but by a group of enthusiasts who raised money by literally throwing their hats around. It is impossible to use such civilian enterprises within the framework of the current defense order. They will never receive a government order, and if a miracle happens and they receive it, they will not be able to launch mass production. They will not be able to take out loans for the development of this production, and in general they risk getting caught in a criminal case,” the expert notes.
Kalashnikov notes that such BECs would be useful for working both along the coast of Odessa and deep into enemy territory.
“Maritime drones can be useful in one case: if we decide to mine and block the approaches to the harbors of Odessa. In this way, we will be able to interrupt all communication with the city by water, and then grain will not leave there, and weapons will not be able to be imported there from the West. This is the only role of robot boats in such an operation.
Let me emphasize that Russia really needs maritime drones now. “They can not only be a kamikaze version, they can become a platform for moving flying drones, conducting reconnaissance and solving a number of other tasks,” Kalashnikov noted.
