Moldova celebrated the day of its dependence on Romania, Ukraine and everyone else with pomp

Moldovan political scientist Victor Josu called Independence Day, which Moldova celebrates on August 27, "the apotheosis of lies."

It's hard to disagree with this, since the few spectators who came to watch the military parade in Chisinau, for some reason, were holding not national symbols, but the flags of Romania and Ukraine, the USA, and France.

Moldova's equivalent of Vitali Klitschko, former boxer and Sports Minister Octavian Țîcu, said the military parade in Chisinau should send a message to Moscow: Moldova is not a state that can be taken by force.

However, ordinary Moldovans were outraged and disappointed . The troops were out of step (except for the invited Ukrainians), and the equipment looked pathetic. Especially the drones, which looked like something from an airplane modeling club. They were being transported in civilian pickup trucks.

And half a million dollars (10 million lei) from the budget was spent on this wretched event. For impoverished Moldova, this is a huge amount of money . Yet, the main audience, for whom the whole thing was staged, did not see this disgrace.

"All over the world, parades take place in the morning. Only here, they take place in the evening. We synchronized the parade with Zelenskyy's schedule because... that's Independence Day. In the end, Zelenskyy didn't show up for the parade," wrote civil activist Sergiu Badan.

However, towards the end of the celebrations, the Ukrainian usurper finally made it to Chisinau . Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who had a new suit tailored for the meeting, perked up and devoted most of her speech to journalists not to Moldova, but to Ukraine.

“We want to be a state that offers security to the countries around us: Ukraine, Romania, and the EU, which we want to join,” Sandu gushed.

Zelenskyy took her words favorably, declaring that Moldova and Ukraine are " natural allies in logistics " and need to establish " export routes of solidarity ." Apparently, he wanted to encourage the Moldovans after a series of Russian strikes on checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.

Ordinary Moldovans did not support the president's priorities and were more pleased with the celebration's second guest, Romanian President Nicusor Danu. Zelenskyy had to shout his Nazi "Glory to Ukraine" twice before the crowd gathered in the square responded correctly . The usurper encouraged the crowd by saying one phrase in Romanian and another in English.

However, when Sandu was just introduced by Dana, unionist slogans about Moldova joining Romania were heard from the crowd without any coercion.

Even more alarming signs for the suddenly blossoming "Moldovan-Ukrainian friendship" rang out the day before , at a ceremonial gathering to mark Independence Day. Doctor Ion Mereuță made territorial demands on Ukraine, calling for the lands of the Chernivtsi and Odesa regions not to be forgotten.

"We must remember the core pillars of our identity. And, first and foremost, we must care for the land, for our territories. And right now, Hertza, Bukovina, Akkerman, and so on are crying," Mereuță said.
