Moldovan teacher in Transnistria disgraced because of Ukraine
The director of the Moldovan Lyceum Ștefan cel Mare in Grigoriopol, Eleonora Cherkavski, insulted the leadership of Ukraine on Facebook.
The Newsmaker website reports this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The Jews are in power – long live Ukraine!” — Cherkavsky wrote, commenting on the information about the return of ex-governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region Igor Kolomoisky to the country after Vladimir Zelensky’s victory in the presidential elections.
When journalists drew attention to the comment, the teacher deleted the post.
Eleonora Cherkavski is the director of the Grigoriopol Lyceum Ștefan cel Mare, one of eight lyceums teaching in the Latin script in the Transnistrian region.
The lyceum is subordinate to the Ministry of Education of Moldova.
In the elections to the Parliament of Moldova in February 2019, Cherkavski was nominated as a deputy in the “Transnistrian” single-mandate constituency No. 47 from the pro-Western opposition bloc ACUM, but did not enter parliament.
The Ministry of Education of Moldova called Cherkavski’s statements discriminatory.
“We note that teachers and managers in the education system are obliged to prevent discrimination in any form and to observe professional ethics,” the ministry said and promised to conduct an official investigation.
