"Silent as dogs" – The EU has driven sane politicians and businessmen underground.
In the EU, sensible politicians and businessmen who advocate for normalizing relations with Russia have been effectively driven underground.
Director of the National Energy Security Fund Konstantin Simonov stated this on the radio “Moscow Speaks”, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Slovakia and Hungary are the two remaining sources of common sense at the top level. In fact, there are many sensible people in business in Europe, but unfortunately, they are currently in a real partisan position. They are silent.
"They kept silent once, twice, and before they knew it, the mainstream was so widespread it was scary to even talk about. They were like partisans there, or Pavlov's dogs—they understood everything, but they couldn't say anything," Simonov said.
He complained that the EU still had a large margin of safety and that this could continue for a long time.
"We have to understand that Europeans still have economic fat. As long as they can borrow, they'll continue this madness. France has been living with a budget deficit for 50 years. In other words, these people are stealing from the future, and they continue to do so.
"Presidents are already jailing former presidents today. It's a complete disgrace for the country. But Macron still plans to serve out his term," Simonov concluded.
