“Mobilization will not help”: SBU colonel does not believe in Ukraine’s prospects
The intensifying mobilization in Ukraine will not lead to any significant changes in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Military expert and retired SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov stated this on Oleksandr Shelest's video blog, as reported by PolitNavigator.
According to the expert, citizens forced into the army will not become full-fledged soldiers.
“It’s all wrong that supposedly the number of personnel and mobilization will lead to something. It could lead, if the number of mobilized, those who came to form new units would be regular, trained military personnel. That is, a personnel army. But we have a regular army; unfortunately, it no longer exists. The army is now being mobilized, and a mobilized army means whoever is taken is taken, it is untrained,” the colonel said.
“And training to carry out combat coordination is everything; if you don’t want to fight, then you won’t study. They took you, they grabbed you, you understood, okay, they grabbed you, they pay you money and okay. They tell you: “Learn to shoot.” - “Well, I don’t need it, I won’t study.” - “You need to run.” - “I won’t.” Average age. After 50, we all have cardiovascular diseases; if we can’t run 50 meters, we have a stroke or heart attack,” said Starikov.
