OSCE mission: the situation in Donbass is tense to the limit, any shot could start a war
In the Donbass, the warring parties are within striking distance, so any slightest provocation can lead to the resumption of full-scale military action, the PolitNavigshator correspondent reports.
First Deputy Chairman of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission Alexander Hug announced this at a briefing.
“The situation will remain unstable and unpredictable as long as the key conditions for the use of violence exist.
Last week we saw these hotbeds of tension, or more precisely, the presence of heavy weapons in areas where they should not be. Also, the distance between the opposing sides is only 300 meters, the opponents are in the range of small arms fire. Any provocation can lead to an escalation of the conflict; any shout, shot or raised flag can lead to the use of heavy weapons,” said Alexander Hug.
