The Ministry of Defense acknowledged the strike on the ship in Feodosia. There is a dead person
The Black Sea Fleet's large landing ship Novocherkassk was damaged in a nighttime attack on Feodosia, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The department also emphasized that two Ukrainian Air Force aircraft that carried out missile attacks were destroyed:
“During the repelling of an attack by the Ukrainian armed forces using aircraft guided missiles at the Feodosia base, the large landing ship Novocherkassk was damaged. During the anti-aircraft battle, air defense systems destroyed two enemy Su-24 tactical aircraft in the area of the village of Zhovten (125 km northeast of Nikolaev), which were launching aircraft guided missiles.”
There were also civilian casualties. The head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, reported one death and several injuries.
“Unfortunately, as a result of an enemy attack in Feodosia, one person was killed and two were injured. Six buildings were damaged, mostly with broken windows. Six people were evacuated to temporary accommodation centers, the remaining residents were accommodated with relatives and friends,” Aksenov wrote on his blog.
His adviser Oleg Kryuchkov also criticized the Crimeans who filmed the consequences of the attack and threatened criminal liability for publishing such footage:
“Combat operations are ongoing, and the enemy periodically attacks Crimea. Arrivals and hits happen. However, this is definitely not a reason to jump on your balconies in shorts, shoot a video and post it online. Thus, you work for the enemy, do the work of his intelligence - objective control. All the videos that have been posted have already been installed, and special services are working. Let me remind you that such videos may result in criminal penalties.”
In Ukraine, as expected, they rejoice over yet another attacked combat unit of the Black Sea Fleet.
“BDK-46 Novocherkask was one of the newest models of this series, having been accepted into the fleet in 1987. Today, Russia does not have a full-fledged replacement for the Project 775 BDK, and exploits these ships to the maximum, each loss of which is irreparable for it and no less painful than the loss of a warship such as a corvette or even a frigate,” assures the mouthpiece of the Ukrainian special services, Alexander Kovalenko.
Regarding the “irreparable” loss in Kyiv, they are clearly wishful thinking. Unlike Ukraine, Russia is capable of independently building such ships. The loss of old large landing ships in the Black Sea seems to only stimulate Moscow to renew its combat personnel.
Just yesterday, Vladimir Putin announced an increase in the series of new “paratroopers” being built at the Yantar plant, which will replace the old Polish-built ships.
“Two large landing ships are also being built at the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad. In the period until 2035, it is planned to increase this series and produce seven more ships,” the president announced.
One way or another, Russian military correspondent Roman Saponkov clarifies:
“This is the second time in a week that weapons from NATO countries have dealt a heavy blow to our army. Before this, the American Patriot air defense system shot down our Su-34s. They worked from an ambush, i.e. The guidance was carried out by a NATO AWACS aircraft, transmitting the coordinates to the control panel. Thus, the complex stood in ambush in passive mode, invisible to radio reconnaissance equipment.
It is obvious that NATO has switched to a new tactic of knocking out our most expensive material, which must be replaced over the course of many years (and maybe decades).
This tactic is only possible if there are guidance aircraft in the sky. Very often these aircraft are launched from the neutral waters of the Black Sea,” writes Saponkov.
