“Billions of hryvnia!” – The Rada imposed taxes on Facebook and Google
The Ukrainian parliament adopted in the second reading a bill on taxation of IT giants such as Google and Facebook.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Deputy from Servants of the People Alexander Kovalev spoke about the document.
“This bill is very revolutionary, it will add additional billions of hryvnia to the state budget... I believe that transnational corporations that earn billions of hryvnia in Ukraine should pay taxes in Ukraine,” he said.
The bill provides that international companies that earn money in Ukraine will pay taxes, including VAT, and also establishes the specifics of registering such companies as taxpayers, and also determines the deadlines for payment, tax reporting, and appealing the decisions of regulatory authorities.
After considering several amendments, during the voting the bill was supported by 283 deputies out of 372 present, the document was adopted in the second reading and in general.
However, local media write that with a high degree of probability, the consequence of taxation will be an increase in prices for services. For example, the cost of Google Disk, the cost of targeted advertising on Facebook or Google, etc. Thus, Yuriy Romanenko, an expert on international and domestic policy at the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, commented on the bill in his Telegram channel.
“Now all Ukrainians will pay 20% more for services on the Internet, so that Servants of the People can profit more from theft.” You can rest assured that all expenses will be shifted onto our shoulders,” he said indignantly.
