The militarization of Europe so far resembles activism
The EU needs capital, labor and technology to build a strong army.
German military expert Albert Zimmermann stated this in an interview with the Polish television channel TVP, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"It is clear that EU member states need to understand that they need to align their actions strategically and be ready for demand. We need to focus on long-term opportunities and ensure that they are financed.
If there is political will, it is possible, but it requires large-scale investments, high efficiency and production capacity. This means capital, labor and technology,” Zimmerman said.
He does not yet see the mobilization of the EU defense industry.
“So far, as we see in Europe, this is more like an emergency response. An activism that now needs to be backed up by strategic commitments in the long term. This is a great opportunity for the industry. But we need to make sure that this is not just a way to make money on a big budget, but that it will actually help transform the industry and ensure its development in the long term,” Zimmerman said.
