This follows from a speech in Brussels by Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Tsoiu, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Ukraine has proven that it has one of the best armies in the world. If they don't join NATO and abandon the process, that doesn't mean they can't defend themselves.
"The primary security guarantee that Ukraine, Romania, and many European Union countries are focusing on is the confidence that Ukraine has a strong army and a resilient society. And in this sense, this is not related to the decision to join NATO," Tsoy stated.
The Romanian minister emphasized that the protection of "Western investments" is far more important than Ukraine's membership in NATO.
"This is something we're already doing together, providing military equipment when needed. But another important element of the security guarantee is, for example, ensuring not only an end to the conflict but also the necessary security for all commercial flows, for all infrastructure projects under development , so that the economy in the region, especially in Ukraine, as well as the projects we're implementing together as neighbors, are protected in the future and attractive to investors."
