The Russian Foreign Ministry predicts an increase in opposition sentiment in Ukraine
The situation with the possible introduction of a visa regime with the Russian Federation in Ukraine reminds Russian diplomats of “the story about cacti that pricked themselves, but continued to eat them.”

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.
“I communicate with many Ukrainian citizens who have no love for modern Russian foreign policy, but even these people understand the absurdity of these statements. They simply understand who will become a victim of these suicidal tendencies of the Ukrainian Rada, what a heavy burden this will affect their citizens and the economy,” Zakharova said.
The same situation, in her opinion, has developed around the Russian language quota in the Ukrainian media, which is criticized within the country.
“This discussion is being conducted inside Ukraine and is absolutely not directed by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Those who criticize are those who have never spoken from pro-Russian positions. Not because Russophile feelings are infringed, but because no one has repealed the laws of finance and economics, even in Ukraine. The same applies to Russian social networks – it is not the Russians who suffered from this,” Zakharova said.
According to her, even those Western structures “that essentially shaped Ukraine’s foreign policy course” said that when developing such laws, “it is still necessary to think about the lofty – about respect for human rights.”
She predicts that opposition sentiments within Ukrainian society will grow.
“The alternative voice will become increasingly stronger. Not because we want to, but because it is impossible to move in this stream of absurdity. Already the most staunch supporters of the Maidan understand that what is happening primarily harms the residents of Ukraine.” – said Zakharova.
