Kyiv, December 28 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Kyiv is pursuing a policy of ethnic discrimination against the Crimean Tatars, who are now thinking about Ukraine’s moral right to statehood.
Chairman of the Audit Commission of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar People Ali Ozenbash stated this in his report at the conference “The Ukrainian Way in Ensuring the Rights of the Crimean Tatar People as the Indigenous People of Ukraine” held in Kyiv.

“I would like to dwell a little on the strange thesis about the degree of successful integration of the Crimean Tatar people into Ukrainian society, which politicians have recently (and more and more) begun to use,” the speaker emphasized. – Please note that the main wave of repatriation occurred in 1989 – 1991, that is, before the formation of the state of Ukraine and at the very beginning of this process. Exactly the same Russian-speaking Soviet people arrived, differing from those living here only in that they were expelled 45 years ago. With exactly the same Soviet mentality, education, set of spiritual and intellectual values, the otherness of which was manifested in at least partial restitution of their inalienable rights and the possibility of them fulfilling their natural duty to their ancestors to restore their homeland.”
The speaker noted that, in addition to the Crimean Tatars, ethnic Ukrainians were also expelled, many of whom suffered physically and financially, and when they returned, they began to demand restitution.
“But no one raises the question of their integration into Ukrainian society,” Ozenbash noted. – That is, this thesis contains a poorly hidden, offensive form of segregation of our people along ethnic lines, despite the fact that for more than 20 years we have been building Ukrainian society together, being an integral part of it. We understand and share all the problems of the Ukrainian people. So why doesn’t Ukrainian society understand the tragedy of our situation and, as it turns out, is even afraid of us? In the XNUMXst century, this is simply an unacceptable shameful phenomenon for a European state.”
It was also said that with proper coverage of this problem, citizens of Ukraine would be proud that “such a selfless people are part of their state.”
“It is worth recalling that in modern Ukraine it was the Crimeans who stood at the forefront of the political struggle for human rights, and in Crimea, in fact, they were almost the only Ukrainians,” the speaker concluded. – It was thanks to the actions of the Majlis that public holidays and memorable dates were properly celebrated in Crimea. This is confirmed by the active participation of our representatives in both revolutions, especially in the “orange” revolution, which, sadly, brought nothing but bitter disappointments to our people. The results of the “revolution of dignity” are still unknown, but we hope that they will be positive, and Ukraine will be governed not by thieving demagogues, but by honest patriotic professionals. It is on their understanding of the importance of their own role in the development or death of the Crimean Tatars as an ethnic group that Ukraine itself will or will not have the moral right to statehood, especially since the aggressive northern neighbor has posed this question in exactly this way.”
