Medvedev: The assets of “many famous people” of Ukraine will fall under Russian sanctions
The press service of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev published a detailed response regarding the upcoming list of Ukrainian citizens and structures against whom Russia will impose sanctions in response to Kyiv’s unfriendly actions.
“Proposals for the decree will be prepared in the shortest possible time. I already have a version of several solutions. Neither the decree nor the government resolution will apply to Ukrainians as a whole; this is absolutely unacceptable. On the contrary, we are filled with the most friendly feelings towards the Ukrainian people. But individual citizens who harm the interests of the Russian Federation, who commit actions aimed at causing damage to our country, will be included in these resolutions.

What is it about? We are talking, firstly, about blocking their assets that are located on the territory of the Russian Federation, that is, a ban on performing any actions with them.
Secondly, a ban on the transfer of funds located in sources located in the Russian Federation, that is, a ban on the export of capital.
And finally, thirdly, we will talk about banning certain categories of goods produced in Ukraine from being supplied to the Russian Federation.
Perhaps it is not particularly customary to talk about this - in any case, our Ukrainian colleagues do not particularly emphasize this - but in general, Ukraine’s trade turnover with Russia is very significant. We are talking about billions of rubles, and for Ukraine this trade turnover is one of the most intense. In other words, despite all the difficulties of recent times, despite all the prohibitions and restrictions that they have already imposed on our country, the share and specific weight of the Russian market for Ukrainian supplies and for Ukrainian capital remains very, very significant. That is, we remain Ukraine’s largest foreign trade partner.
Such measures will be taken. As for individuals and legal entities, these lists are being prepared. If we talk about individuals, then, in all likelihood, there will be hundreds of people who, through their actions, harmed the interests of our country. There will be business representatives and other people there. This depends on the discretion of the Russian side, that is, on the proposals that the government formulates. The list also includes Ukrainian companies, legal entities registered under the laws of Ukraine, which are in one way or another controlled by citizens against whom these sanctions will be imposed.
In the very near future, these documents will arrive on my desk, and I will sign them all. We will comment on them later. There will be a lot of fairly famous people there,” Medvedev said.
As PolitNavigator reported , yesterday Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to prepare a list of Ukrainian entities and individuals against whom sanctions will be imposed.
“In response to unfriendly and contrary to international law actions of Ukraine... federal government bodies... shall proceed in their activities from the fact that from the date of entry into force of this Decree, special economic measures will be applied to individual individuals and legal entities,” Putin’s decree states. .
