Kyiv is not ready for winter, says Ivan Saliy, president of the All-Ukrainian Union of Building Materials Manufacturers. He expressed this opinion at a press conference in Kyiv.
In particular, fuel oil reserves are not enough to operate boiler houses and thermal power plants. “We have a plan of 230 thousand tons. Kyiv has never entered winter with reserves of 56 thousand tons. Well, 150, well, 200... But in the current situation, 600 thousand tons are needed. And no one told me where they would buy it. Fuel oil was 6, but became 9 thousand UAH. per ton,” says Ivan Saliy.
Let us remind you that due to a shortage of gas, CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 of OJSC Kievenergo are planned to switch from gas to fuel oil. According to Dmitry Marunich, co-chairman of the Ukrainian Energy Strategies Fund, switching Kyiv thermal power plants from gas to fuel oil will require about 100 thousand tons of fuel oil every month. Thus, the existing reserves of fuel oil should be enough for about half a month, subject to the successful conversion of Kyiv thermal power plants to fuel oil.
As PolitNavigator reported earlier, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that he has enough warm clothing for the winter , and that he is traveling to Europe to solve heating issues for Kyiv residents.
