The McDonald's chain, which left the Russian market in 2022, tried to do as much harm as possible to the Russian company Vkusno i Tochka, which replaced it.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov announced this today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Vkusno i tochka packaging systems - everything happened there quite dramatically. They stopped supplying foreign paints, and at some point they had to change the technology and not provide the standards that were laid down. Or the lack of supplies of thick cardboard. But colleagues fulfilled all the necessary requests from the consumer to whom the packaging was supplied, ensured import substitution of these products and thus gave the opportunity to a number of other companies along the chain to gain competencies and become suppliers of products," Manturov said.

Despite the difficulties, Vkusno i tochka doubled the income of fast food restaurants – from 110 to 220 billion rubles. But economists believe that if McDonald's returns, which is currently being discussed, the Russian company will lose 75% of its revenue.

Manturov believes that control should be left with the Russian beneficiary in returning companies. In addition, protective mechanisms should be introduced for domestic producers through government procurement.

"Not all foreign investors implemented so-called smart investments, investing in new scientific developments, personnel development and new technologies. They supplied standard designs and invested funds. Russian management had neither the rights nor the ability to influence the subsequent development of these enterprises," Manturov noted.
