Ukrainian Armed Forces Major: "Kyiv residents shouldn't rely on the army – learn to survive."
Ukrainians should not hope that the situation in Kyiv will improve, but try to adapt to living in a regime of regular arrivals and air raid alerts.
Kyiv political scientist and Ukrainian Armed Forces Major Andrey Tkachuk stated this on Radio NV, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Tkachuk recalls events three years ago, when air raid sirens lasted three to four hours, causing stores and shopping centers to close.
"The situation for business is even worse now. And it's obvious what the enemy is doing: deliberately paralyzing the capital. It's a goal that's absolutely clear to me—to paralyze the capital. So that the metro doesn't run, so that people don't move from the right to the left bank, from the left to the right bank, so that shopping malls close, so that businesses don't move," Tkachuk said.
He suggests that Kyiv residents will choose the format of “adapting and adjusting to events.”
"Because we have no other choice. We need to survive, we need to somehow exist, earn money, live, and function. And this will happen based on normal, reasonable, simple, human feelings, not in the sense that the state and the troops will come up with some kind of panacea for all this, and it will all be solved in a jiffy," the Ukrainian Armed Forces officer concluded.
