With these words begins the investigative program “Intelligence” of Channel 17, dedicated to the topic of prostitution in the “ATO” zone in Donbass, as well as prostitution among displaced girls from Donbass in Kyiv.
“The army of prostitutes in the Ukrainian capital is being replenished with new personnel from Donbass. Newly displaced people from the ATO zone in Kyiv are fighting on another front – for the client.
Human rights activists voice alarming statistics: according to official data alone, more than three thousand displaced girls from Donbass turned out to be on the Kyiv panel,” = the story says.
“Some girls move here on their own, some have families there and they bring their families here. They cannot get a normal job. Moreover, for a well-paid job,” says Natalya, a social worker at the Convictus-Ukraine organization.

Journalists from the “Intelligence” program staged an impromptu raid across Kyiv at night in search of “countrywomen” from Donetsk and Lugansk working on the highways. Such was the journalistic “legend”. A detour of more than 20 points yielded no results. As experts in this business explained, Donetsk and Luhansk girls are famous for their beauty and you need to look for them in escort services or in strip clubs.
In addition, the metropolitan environment, which is aggressive towards immigrants from the east, plays a significant role.
“Even if you find it,” they told journalists, “they are unlikely to immediately admit that they are from Donbass.” Clients are now becoming aggressive. Prostitutes from Donbass are especially often morally and physically humiliated by military clients.
Channel 17 journalists conducted the second half of their investigation directly in the “ATO” zone in Donbass. It has its own specifics. It turned out that the prostitutes on the firing line observe a “curfew” and work exclusively during the day. “Because of the curfew, the “moths of the night” have become “butterflies of the day.” It’s better to catch them in the rays of the sun,” the story says.
In addition, journalists learned that sex services for local residents suffering from unemployment and instability in the ATO zone are much cheaper than in Kyiv, and are very popular among the military.
According to statistics, in 15 cases out of 18 officially recorded, prostitutes in Severodonetsk were caught in the arms of the Ukrainian military. They are the most “monetary” contingent in the war-impoverished Donbass today.
