Lviv historian and professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University, Yaroslav Hrytsak , stated this in an interview with the anti-Russian propaganda publication, Ukrainska Pravda , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Galician was asked whether a “ just peace ” between Russia and Ukraine was possible.
"I don't think so. A just peace will only be possible with Russia's complete defeat . As much as I'd like that, I don't see any prospect of such a complete defeat . If, say, Putin disappears, or the Russian regime collapses, I don't think those who replace him will give up Crimea. And that's already an element of war. I'm not even talking about Donbas ," the source said.
According to him, in addition to defeat, “radical pressure from the West” is possible to force Russia to accept “ irreversible political conditions that make the rise of someone like Stalin, Putin or Lenin impossible .”
"But we understand that this won't happen immediately; it could happen in two or three generations . And then we can certainly talk about peace. I'm also not talking about reparations or punishing the guilty. All of this is being put off for a longer-term goal, which doesn't mean we shouldn't pursue it. But, unfortunately, I don't see any basis for talking about a stable, just peace right now," Gritsak stated.
