Lvov professor: “It’s not enough to destroy Russia, it must be broken”
There are no opposition political forces in Russia whose rise to power would suit Ukraine.
This was stated by historian and professor at the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv) Yaroslav Gritsak in an interview published by the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I don’t believe in any [good] scenarios for Russia. Everything will no longer be good for Russia. The shortest Russian joke right now is about the future of Russia. Russia has a choice between bad scenarios, very bad scenarios and disaster,” Gitsak said.
According to him, if the “Russian issue” is not resolved now, this means that within 25 years there will be a new war.
“My thesis is that it is not enough to destroy Russia and it is impossible; Russia must be broken. And these are two different things. Because “breaking Russia” means changing its political structure and radically changing it. She can't do it herself. She can do this only under dictation and pressure,” believes the Lvov professor.
He was asked who could become an alternative to President Vladimir Putin in Russia.
“I don’t see now who can take power from those who would suit us. I don't see a real option. Even with the opposition, if it had a chance, I don’t think it would be easy for us to talk. Because the opposition still does not say very important things, because the opposition still has not clearly recognized whose Crimea is and whose Donbass is whose. And this is an introductory condition for any conversations.
Regarding other scenarios, which are obviously different. For example, an even worse Putin will come, and this will happen in the shortest possible time, because when one alpha male falls, another alpha male comes to replace him,” Gritsak concluded.
