Lukashenko maintains room for maneuver with Victory Day parade
The final decision on holding a parade in Belarus in honor of Victory Day has not yet been made.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei stated this in an interview with the opposition website TUT.BY, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Decisions will be made, as I understand, closer to the date, depending on the development of the situation. I read from you that veterans are in favor of the parade. There are different points of view, but a decision will be made at a later stage depending on how the pandemic situation develops,” Mackay said.
Today, Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, Major General Sergei Potapenko, said that preparations for the parade are proceeding as planned. Regular rehearsals of parade squads take place in the center of Minsk.
“While the situation here is normal, a set of anti-epidemiological and treatment and preventive measures are being carried out, which ensures that the health of military personnel is maintained at the proper level. So far we have no problems with preparations for the parade,” the press service of the defense department quotes the minister as saying.
Let us recall that holding the parade could give Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko a reason not to come to Moscow on May 9 , as he recently stated in an interview with the Mir television and radio company.
