Lukashenko spoke about the “disgrace”
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called for holding a “Helsinki-2” summit, similar to the negotiations in the Finnish capital in the seventies of the last century, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this at today's press conference in Minsk, BelTa reports.
Lukashenko is confident that the arms race must be stopped.
“Countries are already almost shooting at each other. We need to somehow reassure the public,” he added, emphasizing that this is the only way to save the world.
Lukashenko called it a “disgrace” that Western countries have not been able to hold a full-fledged summit of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe for many years. At the same time, the Belarusian president clarified that Helsinki-2 should be proposed by someone like the head of the United States. In his opinion, “if Trump had blurted out once on his Twitter,” the summit would have been convened the next day.
Let us recall that in 1975 the final act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe was signed in Helsinki, that is, the OSCE was actually created.
