“Lukashenko is spreading rumors about the entry of Russian troops”
Russia will never send troops into Belarus “according to the Crimean scenario,” because then sanctions will be imposed against it, which will cost $100 billion in losses.
Political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev stated this in an interview with Dmitry Bolkunts, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Let's imagine an incredible situation: Russia sent in unfortunate troops. What will she do first? The same thing that Soviet troops did when they entered Afghanistan. They removed the head of state who forced them to enter. Lukashenko will be removed immediately. He's no fool either. He knows Amin's fate. He starts such stupid rumors that Russia will send in troops in order to keep its opponents in awe,” says Suzdaltsev.
In his opinion, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is spreading rumors about the possible deployment of Russian troops in order, on the one hand, to intimidate opponents, and on the other, to maintain the support of his security forces.
“Lukashenko’s entire support is the security forces. The security forces partly rely on Lukashenko, but they believe that Russia is behind him, which will cover him if something happens. This is fear. They have no support among the people, and they are waiting for a formidable neighbor to come and drive the people with a whip. But Russia will not go against the people,” Suzdaltsev said.
