Lukashenko used Poroshenko – Tuka
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko understands perfectly well that his proposal for peacekeepers for Ukraine is unacceptable to Kyiv.
Deputy Minister for Occupied Territories Georgiy Tuka spoke about this on the ZIK TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Despite all the ambiguity of this country, Belarus is today a neutral state. Therefore, it would be wrong to criticize her open position. Therefore, Poroshenko’s reaction to the proposals of the President of Belarus is absolutely normal. I have great doubts whether these proposals will be implemented; they are unlikely to be implemented.
Knowing the professionalism of Lukashenko, who has been in power for 25 years, I think he understands perfectly well that his proposal is unacceptable for Ukraine. Therefore, this is, on the one hand, a diplomatic step and a diplomatic thank you, on the other. We can say that he promoted himself on the Ukrainian conflict and invited the United States to dialogue; the Assistant Secretary of State is now in Minsk,” Tuka said.
“In a certain way, this removes the isolation from Minsk for its pro-Russian position and its internal “dictatorial” position. And now this isolation is being destroyed before our eyes. Of course, Lukashenko should have taken advantage of this opportunity. “He used his peacemaking proposals to strengthen his presence or even return to big European politics,” the official added.
Earlier, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko proposed taking responsibility for the deployment of a joint UN and OSCE peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
