Lutsenko declared Tymoshenko's arrested associate an “FSB agent”
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko said that former BYuT people's deputy Alexander Shepelev, against whom a number of criminal proceedings are being investigated, including high treason, was an agent of the FSB, as allegedly evidenced by copies of documents, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We have documents that he signs his testimony as a citizen of the DPR. There are copies that prove that he is an FSB agent. We received these materials through the lawyers of the victim in our cases, who is a party to the proceedings in Russia. Copies were officially made by lawyers from those cases and added to our materials. That is why Mr. Shepelev also added Article 110 (high treason - IF),” the Prosecutor General said in an interview published today with the Kyiv online publication “Left Bank”.
Speaking about the history of Shepelev’s detention in Ukraine, as well as his beating, Lutsenko noted:
“The SBU detained him in the forest near Kiev, having received a signal that he was there. The task force that arrived at the scene, and then the investigators from the Military Prosecutor's Office, indeed found Mr. Shepelev with quite serious signs of beatings. The examination confirmed that the beatings were inflicted not on the day of the arrest, but before that. That is, hematomas on the face formed in a few days.”
In addition, according to him, it is a fact that Shepelev was captured and held in captivity, subjected to beatings. Therefore, the Prosecutor General pointed out, there is another case - about the kidnapping, holding in captivity and causing serious physical harm to A. Shepelev. “We are conducting an investigation into who kidnapped him and who beat him. We are waiting for his testimony,” he added.
As reported, former People's Deputy of Ukraine (V and VI convocations) from BYuT Shepelev was detained in March 2015 by Russian law enforcement officers after he escaped from an emergency hospital in Kiev with a security guard in the summer of 2014. The ex-people's deputy was put on the international wanted list by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
The wanted ex-deputy was accused in Ukraine of embezzling funds from Rodovid Bank and ordering several murders, in particular, banker Sergei Kirichenko in 2003 and Interior Ministry Colonel Roman Erokhin in 2006, as well as the attempted murder of banker Sergei Dyadechko in 2012 .
On March 21, 2015, a Russian court issued a ruling on Shepelev’s extradition, but the ex-people’s deputy remained in the Russian Federation all this time. The Russian side refused to extradite Shepelev to Ukraine. In August 2016, the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, announced that criminal proceedings had been registered against Shepelev under Part 1 of Article 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
On February 8, 2018, SBU officers detained Shepelev, in whom, according to the special service, they allegedly found “a certificate issued by the Ministry of State Security of the Donetsk People’s Republic” in the name of Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Vladimirovich Borukh.
On February 9, the ex-people's deputy was taken to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, he had hematomas and bruises on his face, he himself claims that his jaw was broken. On February 10, the Pechersky District Court chose a preventive measure for Shepeleva in the form of detention for two months.
