Just to break “with its own” Transnistria: Moldova is ready to pay exorbitant prices for Romanian electricity
The construction of the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line with a capacity of 400 kW will be completed by the end of 2025. The line is being built using a loan from the World Bank, and its return will be included in the internal Moldovan tariff, since “this line is needed not for cheapness, but for security.”
Moldovan Energy Minister Viktor Parlicov stated this in an interview with TV8, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There is also a significant dependence on the Pridnestrovian energy hub. But she's not that big anymore. After the construction of this line is completed, it will be reduced even more. When we build three lines from Romania, we will not only be able to purchase the necessary volumes, but will also be able to invest in our generation, including green energy,” the minister reasoned.
At the same time, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Constantin Borosan said on Secretele Puterii that Moldova will completely get rid of its dependence on Transnistria when the Vulcanesti-Chisinau line is put into operation.
The Moldavian State District Power Plant, located in Transnistria, provides 95% of Moldova’s electricity needs, and cheap ones at that.
