Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a ceasefire on Victory Day because he allegedly fears a Ukrainian attack on Moscow
Former US Army Commander in Europe Ben Hodges stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian YouTube channel “War and Politics-24,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
" They don't want Ukrainian drones landing on Red Square during Victory Day celebrations . I think that's the real reason they're hoping for a ceasefire during this period. I think your prime minister or foreign minister was right when he said, 'Why not 30 days?'" Hodges said.
He believes that now “even US President Donald Trump” is putting pressure on the Kremlin because he was impressed by the way Volodymyr Zelensky was received at the Pope’s funeral.
"President Zelensky deserves credit for his incredible patience and persistence, his willingness to sit down and continue to explain to the American president what was really going on. It was a great photo of the two of them sitting together. There were memes where people were writing that the American president was meeting with the leader of the free world, Zelensky," the American general concluded.
