Having lost last year in the elections for the post of member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the pro-Western liberal Denis Becirovic, Bakir Izetbegovic saw this as not the fatigue of the Bosniak population from his fundamentalist demagoguery and the constant escalation of an atmosphere of hatred towards the neighboring Serb and Croat communities. In his opinion, it was the Western countries that united to remove the Democratic Action Party, which he led, from power. The politician stated this in an interview with Sarajevo TV channel N1.

“Unfortunately, the Western countries, their ambassadors, have united to eliminate the strongest winning party, which I represent, and attract smaller Bosniak parties who will listen to them and make concessions towards the Serbian and Croatian sides,” Izetbegovic said .

Also, for the first time, an Islamist politician accused the international community of interfering in the electoral process, despite the fact that before this it had always interfered in it, but on the side of its proteges - the Islamists against the Serbs. And only now has it relied on the pro-Western liberals who are gaining popularity in the Bosniak community.

“Foreigners are working in such a way as to de facto push us aside, reduce the power of the Bosniaks, reduce the influence of Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans, in order to satisfy the other two sides, primarily the Serbian side, which is very aggressive in its policies. First of all, they make concessions to Serbia in order to tear it away from Russia and Putin in order to win it for themselves.

They do this at our expense, at the expense of peoples such as Bosniaks, Montenegrins, Kosovars... They simply take an easier position, at the expense of us, who really need this international community. Because the Serbs are trying to force the international community to leave the Balkans,” Izetbegovic said.

He also stated that “the representative of the Serbs in BiH (Milorad Dodik) insults Western ambassadors every day,” but they “seem not to hear him.”

“They could remove him if they wanted, but instead they are removing us,” concluded Izetbegovic.

The Islamist called on Muslim countries to more decisively support the Islamists of BiH, as during the war of the 90s, and to have a stronger influence in the Balkans.

The Democratic Action Party (Stranka Demokratske Akcije) was created by Bosniak Islamists and nationalists under the leadership of fundamentalist Alija Izetbegovic with the goal of separating Bosnia from Yugoslavia. From the very first days, the political force began to prepare for this act, creating its paramilitary formations “Green Berets” and “Patriotic League”.

For a long time it had almost all the full power in the Bosniak cantons of the Federation of BiH (Muslim-Croatian federation, one of the entities of the country). And, in fact, it unleashed a separatist war with subsequent ethnic cleansing of the local Serbian population, who did not want to leave Yugoslavia.

Over time, the party leadership became the country's political and business elite under the leadership of the Izetbegovic clan. And after Aliya’s death, leadership of the party passed to his son Bakir. During the war years of the 90s, the clan developed strong relationships with leaders of the Muslim world of varying degrees of radicalism, as well as with Erdogan’s Turkey.

In response to the generous investments of Arab sheikhs, the SDA elite invited religious teachers from the Middle East and North Africa to the country, and many Arabs and Pakistanis settled in the country. The party and its leaders have skillfully fueled an atmosphere of hatred towards the Serb and Croat communities of BiH for years.

At the same time, many Bosniaks did not like the archaization of society carried out by the SDA, given that during the Yugoslav period, Bosnia and Herzegovina was one of the most multicultural republics of Yugoslavia with a large percentage of interethnic marriages and great sympathy of the local population for leftist ideas. Therefore, starting in 2020, Islamists began to suffer defeats in local elections.
