Leader of the Montenegrin Serbs: The country's leadership pleases the West and breaks off relations with Russia
One of the leaders of the Montenegrin Serb Democratic Front party, Milan Knezevic, spoke about how Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic simultaneously asked Russia for vaccines against COVID-19 and introduced anti-Russian sanctions.
The politician spoke about this in an interview with the Balkanist portal, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

In a conversation with a journalist, Milan Knezevic explained the purpose of the scandal surrounding Zdravko Krivokapić's attempt to dismiss Justice Minister Vladimir Leposavić, who refused to recognize the "genocide" in Srebrenica.
“Obviously, the goal is to present the Serbian people living throughout the territory of the former Yugoslavia as “genocidal” and to appoint them as “the main culprit for the collapse of the SFRY,” Knezevic said. – I know that after Minister Leposavic, speaking in the Parliament of Montenegro, refused to recognize the events in Srebrenica as “genocide”, he received a huge number of messages of support. Moreover, they came not only from members of the Krivokapic government, but also from the prime minister himself. Then he shared Leposavich’s position...
However, after pressure from the embassies of some NATO countries, Krivokapic nevertheless decided to launch the process of Leposavich’s resignation. And this is one of the key indicators that Montenegro is a deeply enslaved country, if not colonized. A country that is unable to take a single step without the approval of the embassies of certain countries.”
The politician notes that the new Montenegrin prime minister “does not leave the embassies of NATO member countries”; he “sends for consultations because of every personnel dilemma or before any foreign policy decision.”
“Of course, the friendship group with Russia needs to be restored. I myself have stated more than once that I am still ready to personally contribute to the restoration of relations between Montenegro and Russia. I repeat once again: Russia is not to blame for their deterioration. On the contrary, Moscow did everything to improve them. However, some foreign policy steps - for example, the extension of anti-Russian sanctions - have further complicated them,” added the leader of the Democratic Front.
“At the moment there are no direct flights between Russia and Montenegro, we are prohibited from exporting wines and products to Russia for which we were so famous and which significantly influenced the filling of our budget,” noted Milan Knezevic. “The following moment is also indicative: on the day when Prime Minister Krivokapic spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Montenegro joined the sanctions against Russia, and before that the head of government asked for about 300 thousand doses of vaccines that Russia promised Montenegro.”
The politician noted that joining the sanctions against Russia is neither the obligation of Montenegro nor a condition for joining the EU. And from this we can conclude that Prime Minister Krivokapic is sending a signal to Moscow that he does not care about the warming between Montenegro and Russia.
“On the contrary, he further provokes the Russian leadership by any means. And his explanations only confirm my thesis that it is Podgorica that is to blame for the deterioration of contacts between our states...
Of course, Russia, as our historical ally and protector, the guarantor of our independence at the Berlin Congress of 1878, is now positioned as our enemy. In Montenegro, there is currently an ideological struggle going on: do we belong to a civilization that we have never been part of, or are we on the collision line between East and West? In this case, we should maintain the best relations with both Russia and the West, and not choose one side and turn our backs on those who have been our allies for centuries, our brothers,” added Milan Knezevic.
