Following the meeting, Dodik told Republika Srpska journalists that he had spoken with Putin about the current situation in the region.

“I introduced Putin to our view of what is happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Bosnian Serb leader commented on the meeting. “I can say that he has a very good eye for detail and is interested in almost every aspect of the possible development of the political situation.”

Also, according to Milorad Dodik, he will have a meeting with representatives of the Gazprom concern, during which he intends to discuss the supply of Russian gas to the RS at lower prices than to the rest of Europe.

“I met the leader of the Serbs of Bosnia and member of the Presidium of BiH Milorad Dodik in Moscow immediately after his meeting with President Putin. We talked about the fate of the Republika Srpska in the next election year, Russian investments in the energy sector and the timing of the opening of the Russian Consulate and the Russian Cultural Center in Banja Luka.

Already next year, construction will begin on the extension of the gas pipeline from Serbia to the Republika Srpska. And in the spring, a Russian consulate is expected to open in Banja Luka... My intuition tells me that he will not lose the upcoming elections,” commented Oleg Bondarenko, a political scientist and author of the “Balkanist” project, on the visit of the Bosnian Serb leader to Russia.
