"He was flying for weapons, but he was left without even dinner": Kyiv analyst on Zelenskyy's visit to the US
Ukraine's incumbent President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was left empty-handed after a visit to the United States, where he hoped to receive long-range weapons.
Political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated this on air on the Politika video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"To summarize, here's a quick summary. Vladimir Alexandrovich flew in for weapons, for political support, and returned with an ultimatum, demanding: 'Enough, return home in peace to your families.' So, essentially, Trump made it clear that he rejects escalation as an element of pressure on Russia and is relying on diplomacy, on the negotiating track. He stated this quite clearly.
But the fact that everything went completely wrong, completely off course , became clear after Zelenskyy, I can imagine, was surprised when he learned about Trump's conversation with Putin . Especially since the conversation wasn't brief, but lasted two and a half hours," Zolotarev said.
The expert notes that Zelenskyy was ultimately left not only without the missiles, but also without dinner with Trump.
" Considering the White House's appreciation for delicious and healthy food, Zelenskyy didn't dine on a salad with artichokes, grated fennel, and lemon vinaigrette. For the main course, he had fried chicken with sweet potatoes, fricassee with peas, arugula, rosemary, and aioli. And for dessert, he had Mackintosh apples, chiffon with ice cream, and blackberry sauce," the expert joked.
