Le Pen considers Ukraine a “victim of aggression.” In Minsk they offer the Russian Federation to bet on red
French presidential candidate and leader of the National Front Marine Le Pen considers almost all anti-Russian sanctions justified.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that the politician, who was considered pro-Russian, stated this during yesterday's debate with the current head of state, Emmanuel Macron, before the second round of elections.
“Let me express my solidarity and absolute sympathy for the Ukrainian people,” the politician said.
She also stated that “the aggression of which Ukraine became a victim is unacceptable.” Moreover, the presidential candidate agreed with almost all the sanctions imposed by the EU against Russia, except for blocking oil and gas imports.
She fears that because of sanctions, Russia and China could become allies and become “an economic and military superpower.”
Macron accused her of depending on Moscow, recalling that in 2017 she took out a loan from a Russian bank for the presidential campaign. In her defense, Le Pen said that “not a single French bank wanted to give me a loan.”
In turn, Belarusian political scientist Alexander Dzermant, assessing Le Pen’s latest statements, comes to the conclusion that Russia’s bet on the European right was wrong.
“In essence, the entire bet of certain circles in Russia on European right-wingers and nationalists has failed. Denazification will eventually destroy these circles too. Eurasia can only be red. The modern Russian project at its core must be successive to the Soviet one. This can be seen symbolically by the popularity of the image of a grandmother with the USSR flag,” says Dzermant.
