Lavrov harshly criticized Volcker's chatter
The Russian Foreign Ministry is concerned about US attempts to “turn on its head” the Russian initiative to send UN guards to ensure the security of the OSCE mission. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in Vienna, commenting on his negotiations with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

“What we heard from US Representative Volcker is a completely opposite approach. It consists in, without getting hung up on the issues of the special status of Donbass, amnesty, preparation of elections through direct dialogue between Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk, the first step is to introduce there, in fact, a UN administration, which will manage everything that happens in the declared DPR and LPR,” Lavrov is quoted as saying by the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
He noted that such a US position does not motivate Ukraine to fulfill its obligations under the Minsk agreements.
“We drew attention to the fact that it would be very wrong to send signals of this kind to the Ukrainians, because this will strengthen them in the opinion that they can skimp on their obligations and move away from the Minsk agreements. In fact, some members of the government talk about this publicly and say that they can solve the problem by force. We called on Washington to stop such provocations,” Lavrov said.
