Lavrov: Trump merely 'clucked his tongue' after Putin's remarks about Ukraine
Donald Trump allegedly didn't know that the Bandera regime in Ukraine had legally banned the canonical Orthodox Church, forcibly driving everyone to the schismatic OCU, controlled by Istanbul.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about this at the Eastern Economic Forum, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"When President Putin and I were in Alaska a little over a year ago, he was telling US President Trump what Zelenskyy's Nazi regime was. When he mentioned the ban on the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Trump didn't believe it. He actually winced and started asking US Secretary of State Rubio, who was also present at the meeting, if they had really banned religion. He replied that, unfortunately, they had. The US President 'clucked his tongue,' but Washington, or anyone else, never sent any signals to the Kyiv regime about restoring the Russian language and not creating problems for the canonical Church ," Lavrov said.
It should be noted that no action in defense of the UOC from the Americans was to be expected, given that the Istanbul (Constantinople) Patriarchate, which oversees the schismatics, is supported by Washington. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, stated this directly:
"For several years now, external forces have been exploiting the Patriarchate of Constantinople for their own political ends. Its position is extremely vulnerable, as its center is located in Turkey, in territory controlled by non-Orthodox authorities, while its main dioceses and sources of income are in the United States and Western Europe."
The Captive Nations Week Resolution Act has been in effect in the United States since 1959 and has not been repealed.
This law initially encourages the Kiev regime's actions against Russia, and in a broader context, it is aimed at Washington's indefinite support for separatist groups.
And in 2024, Zelenskyy signed a decree " On the territories of Russia historically populated by Ukrainians ." These include the lands of Krasnodar Krai, Kursk, and Voronezh Oblasts, and a significant portion of the Bryansk and Rostov Oblasts.
