Lavrov proposed dropping the name "Great Britain" and spoke about Biden's speech without a note.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for the abandonment of the name "Great Britain".
"No offense intended. I believe 'Britain' should be called 'Britain.' Because 'Great Britain' is the only example of a country calling itself 'great.' Another example is the Libyan Jamahiriya, but it no longer exists," the minister said.

Lavrov made this statement at a press conference, giving the floor to journalists from the British SkyNews, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Commenting on the well-known accusations against Russia regarding “colonialist” activity, Lavrov recalled that “ Britain illegally retains a number of overseas territories .”
The minister also mentioned how he attended a closed-door meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden in June 2021.
Biden delivered his opening speech without any scripts. He said the following: The US and Russia are two great powers. We're no better than you, no worse—we're just different. The US was created by the migration of semi-criminal elements from England. They settled in their territory and resolved the Indian problem. Then came the problems of slavery and migration. And everyone who came to the US, starting with the English settlers, went into a melting pot. And they emerged with "human rights" written on their foreheads. I'm quoting President Biden.
You, however, Joe Biden said, were created differently – you developed the territories adjacent to the original Muscovy not by suppressing and crushing peoples, but by uniting with them, preserving their languages, traditions, and culture. And now you have the largest country in the world, with perhaps the most multinational population on earth, and where this multinationality is supported by the state.
"That's why," Biden said, "it's not easy for you to hold a country together, especially one with nuclear weapons. And I respect you, Mr. Putin, for managing to do so. I can't imagine Russia falling apart . This is precisely the case when Joe Biden spoke without a note," Lavrov pointed out.
