Lavrov: Europe is seriously preparing for war against Russia
Several European countries are seriously preparing for war against Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at a briefing.
"If you read the statements of European politicians—Kaja Kallas, Ursula von der Leyen, Merz, Starmer, Macron, Rutte— they are seriously preparing for war against Russia. And they're not hiding it ," he said, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Lavrov reiterated the need for demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
"Our position on Ukraine is to eliminate the root causes of this crisis , which the West has been deliberately creating for many, many years to turn Ukraine into a threat to our country's security, establishing a foothold right on our borders. This also applies to the encouragement of the openly Nazi regime that came to power as a result of the 2014 coup. A regime that has set a course for the legal and physical extermination of everything Russian —education, language, media, including the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church," the minister recalled.
He pointed out that Europe is disrupting agreements on Ukraine.
" There was no lack of goodwill on Russia's part regarding political agreements. But each time, our Western, primarily European, neighbors did everything they could to undermine these agreements. They behaved in the same way toward the initiatives put forward by the Donald Trump administration ," Lavrov said.
