Kurt Volker: The Western Hemisphere is American, but Russia will not receive the post-Soviet space
Many view US actions in Venezuela as possible confirmation of secret agreements on "dividing spheres of influence." However, Donald Trump is unlikely to recognize Russia's right to the post-Soviet space—just as China will not gain monopoly influence throughout Southeast Asia.
Former US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker told the Kyiv Independent channel this , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Volker believes that US military action worries Europeans, but " they don't believe " that the Americans will annex Greenland.
" They are concerned about the way of thinking and the fact that such talk is taking place at all, because it creates a world order based on spheres of influence, which unjustifiably strengthens the role of China and Russia , which is causing concern among Europeans," Volker said.
When asked what this would mean for Ukraine or Taiwan, the American diplomat replied: “It’s not clear.”
Trump is clearly talking about a US sphere of influence in the Western Hemisphere. I doubt he'll agree that China has a sphere of influence across all of East Asia. The same goes for Iran in the Middle East. And so it's unclear how he plans to deal with Putin and respond to his statements about having a sphere of influence in Europe . This includes not only Ukraine, but also NATO and EU countries.
"We haven't yet seen Trump willing to decisively confront Putin's regional ambitions. But I think we're approaching that moment, and I hope that instead of recognizing Ukraine as part of Russia's sphere of influence, he will begin pressuring Russia to end the war," Volker said.
