Kurt Volker angered Ukrainian nationalists
Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk from Oleg Lyashko’s party burst out with sharp criticism of the US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volcker.
The reason was the statement of the American envoy in an interview with the BBC that the majority of the population of Donbass are ethnic Russians, and therefore Russia supposedly should “withdraw its troops” to help its compatriots.
“Such words from US Special Representative for Donbass Kurt Volker indicate that, with all due respect, he is poorly versed in the historical and political realities of this region.
The majority of Donbass residents are ethnic Ukrainians, who have been methodically Russified by the Kremlin gang for more than a century. Ethnic origin and language of communication are completely opposite things, which only the ignorant can combine.
The domestic Ministry of Foreign Affairs is obliged to carry out extensive explanatory work with a historical excursion for our foreign partners,” Mosiychuk demanded.
