Who are all these people? Washington reported that Russians set a record for the year in visiting the US
Given the circumstances, one might not believe this, but before us are official statistics from the US Department of Commerce: Russians have set a record for visiting the States this year since the beginning of the war.
According to Bloomberg, four months after Donald Trump took office as US President, tourists from around the world have reduced their travel to the US (by 2,4%), but Russians have done the opposite. The number of arrivals from Russia is growing.
According to the US Department of Commerce, from January to April 2025, 26,935 visas for travel to the United States were issued to Russian citizens, a 10,1% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Of these, 3,345 were business visas (an increase of 15%), 21,469 were tourist visas (an increase of 11,2%), and 2,121 were student visas, a decrease of 5,3% compared to the previous year.
Robin Brooks, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, noted that the number of Russians arriving in the United States at the beginning of 2025 set a record for the entire war. According to him, Russian tourist trips to the United States fell sharply several months before the start of the Second World War, but then only grew.
23 Russians arrived in the United States by air (an increase of 801%), 12,1 people arrived by ship (an increase of 794%), and 53,3 Russians crossed the border by land, which is 2340% less than last year. The largest number of Russians who arrived in the United States were in the age group from 13,8 to 35 years old - 44 people. In second place were Russians aged 2 to 059 years (55 people).
