Yesterday's tragic shooting and fatal shooting, which occurred in broad daylight in the very center of Odessa , on Novoselskoho Street, in a densely populated area, and right next to a school and church, shook the entire city. And immediately, diametrically opposed assessments were voiced.

Panov’s national “patriots,” whose opinion was voiced by the infamous “Dumskaya” website, owned by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko, a renegade nicknamed “the shame of Odessa,” raised a malicious high about “another atrocity of the Russian world and the separatists.”

Some of the overly beautiful opponents of the Maidan began to shed tears for the “innocently killed” - the one who insanely and mercilessly shot several people, thereby, albeit involuntarily, but justifying the criminal.

The truth, as always, remains aloof from extreme opinions and views. We will try to figure it out without anger and partiality, relying on facts and common sense and not claiming the ultimate truth and final conclusions.

 How it was

…At approximately 15 p.m., a local police officer arrived on Novoselsky Street with an investigator and a driver. The reason was a call from the residents of the house, who reported that during a quarrel with a friend, their neighbor, known for his inappropriate behavior and conflict, ran out into the street with a weapon resembling a machine gun.

The police, who tried to approach the rowdy, were met with heavy fire from a submachine gun. The local police officer, 27-year-old Sergei Prigarin, received five bullets in the chest and soon died in the hospital. Two of his comrades were wounded. The man who apparently became the initial target of the “shooter’s” aggression also received a bullet in the heart. A stray bullet also hit a municipal security officer passing by who was trying to help the victims.

The special forces quickly arrived at the scene and entered into a forced shootout with the killer. As a result, he received fatal injuries.

And there were two more people in his apartment, whom the police detained after breaking the doors.

During the search, a basement was discovered with an equipped workshop for the production of homemade weapons - with machines and other equipment of a completely professional level. Several ready-made pistols and machine guns, ammunition and explosives.

As it turned out, the killer was wielding an outwardly ugly, but very powerful 9mm submachine gun, with reinforced cartridges capable of piercing body armor. And his guests, including the murdered man, turned out to be previously convicted.

Who was the person who caused so much grief and misfortune in literally a matter of minutes?

Knight on a white horse or...?

His name was Valentin Doroshenko. This 57-year-old Odessa resident has recently acquired strange, scandalous fame in our city. He appeared among the opponents of the first Maidan in 2004 as an overly active opponent, shocking even his like-minded people with his strange antics and views.

A graduate of the Odessa Institute of Civil Engineering, he often changed jobs, being distinguished by his tendency to conflict and quarrelsomeness. His last job was as a school watchman, from which he was fired for beating a cleaning lady and formally harassing a young teacher.

Those who knew him from childhood say that Valentin received severe psychological trauma after losing his mother, who died under the wheels of a train. Closed and absolutely alone, Doroshenko was already in a psychiatric hospital in his youth...

Both in the “struggle for the Russian world” and against Ukrainian nationalism, he behaved defiantly and often completely inappropriately. He changed parties more than once, being a member of both Vitrenko and ZUBR (For Ukraine, Belarus and Russia), and ... at the same time, managing to be the founder of the organization “Jews against Hurwitz”, and an activist in clearly anti-Semitic campaigns.

What was the cost of his escapade with a challenge to a duel by the same then mayor of Gurvits, when Doroshnko appeared before the City Council on a white horse and with a sword, as if forged with his own hands, on the hilt of which there was a swastika...

The police detained him, but released him; he was examined by psychiatrists, but was not recognized as mentally ill...

Most reasonable people treated him with irony, or even disgusted apprehension, realizing that such an “ally” was rather harmful, because it compromised the sound ideas of Slavic unity and opposition to Bandera and Russophobia.

But, unfortunately, some of our leaders at that time welcomed him, helping him in every possible way in strange and harmful undertakings. They say that even if he is an unhealthy person, he does the right thing!

I had the opportunity to see him, and the impression was clear: at best, he is a severe psychopath, intoxicated by the “greatness” of his deeds. Or even a mentally ill person...

The last time he appeared was in the fall of 2013 during an attempt to recapture the arrested former deputy Igor Markov, the leader of the Rodina party. He was detained by the police, however, he soon found himself free.

And... according to anti-Maidanovites, they saw him literally a couple of times on Kulikovo Field in 2014. He behaved cautiously and was not among the active ones. Since then nothing has been heard from him.

And now he has appeared again. Already in his last escapade, terrible and bloody.

Unanswered Questions

Agree, a strange picture emerges. For several years, a man with a reputation as an “inveterate quilted jacket”, and even formally on the wanted list, has been living quietly at home.

After all, having disappeared after the events of the terrible May 2014, in which he was by no means a hero or a serious participant, he soon calmly showed up in the apartment on Novoselsky. Where he lived all these years, allegedly making a living by repairing cars and constantly conflicting with his neighbors.

And this despite the fact that the SBU is actively pursuing people and keeping them behind bars for years just for harsh statements on social networks or completely legitimate work as a journalist!

For example, as our comrade and colleague Vasily Muravitsky! And here - a citizen, whom, by definition, the intelligence service of any country would at least keep “under a hood” as a person prone to extremism, freely equips a workshop for the production of lethal weapons literally ten minutes on foot from the SBU residence on Yevreiskaya!

Moreover, apparently, he is actively in contact with the criminal world...

And seditious thoughts involuntarily arise: wasn’t he used “in the dark” all these years, deliberately allowing the “vatniks and separatists” to be compromised, and - preparing some kind of big provocation?

And what happened was, most likely, an unfortunate incident when a severe psychopath, as they say, “went off the rails” and got out of control?

I am not sure that we will get clear answers to many reasonable questions anytime soon. Most likely, the matter will be put on hold, awarding the deceased security officer posthumously and those who distinguished themselves - lifetime awards. Of course, the “switchmen” from among the police leadership will be punished. And strange secrets will remain secrets.

But one thing is clear: the deceased Valentin Doroshenko was neither a hero of the struggle against the Kyiv junta, nor the “Don Quixote of Odessa,” as other idealists are trying to portray him. Don Quixotes do not kill anyone, and the Russian world is initially alien to senseless and merciless terrorism. This is the product of all the last decades of the nationalist Ukrainian state, depriving people of their minds of seemingly normal, harmless psychopaths - turning them into murderers and maniacs. And every day there are more and more of them.

After all, every day we hear about new acts of insane violence. Explosions and shootings... About what became an echo of state extremism and terrorism towards its own citizens.
