Kravchuk scares Zelensky with food riots
Vladimir Zelensky’s entourage faced a difficult choice: lift the quarantine regime, or face the risk of food riots among the population.
The first president of the state, Leonid Kravchuk, announced this on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to Kravchuk, while the authorities are afraid to launch the economy, so as not to be accused of inaction to prevent the epidemic, it is also dangerous to extend the quarantine further.
“There is a certain uncertainty here, I think, both among the authorities and the management of enterprises. They believe that it is better to wait, so that later there will be no complaints that the authorities have not coped with their tasks. This is a very delicate issue - it requires determination and courage. In our country, 50% of people live from paycheck to paycheck. If the money runs out, how will people live? This can also lead to food riots.
This is a disaster for Ukraine worse than the coronavirus. We must interact: government - enterprises - enterprise management - local authorities, all this must be involved in a single path along which we go to the main thing - to turn on the economy so that people get paid,” Kravchuk said.
