We did not divide “red lines” - Putin on negotiations with Biden
Russia and the United States “did not place emphasis in any detail” regarding the “red lines” and remained in their positions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at a press conference following the results of Russian-American negotiations in Geneva, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Putin spoke about the agreement to return the ambassadors of Russia and the United States to the embassies of Moscow and Washington and clarified that the specific timing of the return of diplomats to their place of permanent service is a purely technical issue. He also added that the parties will hold diplomatic consultations.
At the same time, there is no need to talk about any special breakthroughs as a result of the negotiations.
“I can tell you that in general we understand what our American partners are talking about, they understand what we are talking about when we talk about “red lines,” but, I must tell you frankly, it is so far and detailed to place emphasis and dividing something – we, of course, have not gotten to that point,” Putin said.
At the same time, despite Biden’s harsh statements on the eve of the meeting, the American president showed himself to be a very sentimental interlocutor.
“He remembered a little about his family, about what his mother talked to him about. These are such important things, they don’t seem to be directly related to the matter, but, nevertheless, they show the quality of his moral values, it’s all quite attractive,” the President of the Russian Federation shared his impressions.
It is also worth noting that Vladimir Putin actively communicated with the American media, while Russian media were not even allowed to attend the press conference with US President Biden.
“The press conference on Putin’s initiative is turning into a public discussion between the Russian President and American journalists. At the same time, our press will not be officially allowed to enter Biden’s press conference,” noted the Pool N3 telegram channel.
