The Kosovo pseudo-state is plunging into another political crisis
Today expires the ultimatum that the “President” of the self-proclaimed Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, put forward to Albina Kurti, the leader of the Self-Determination party, which won the recent early “parliamentary elections”.
“I hope that Mr. Kurti will be able to nominate his candidate for the post of prime minister within 48 hours, since the people, parliament, and our allies expect this from him. Further delay will lead to great disappointment for the people of Kosovo and the risk of a completely unnecessary constitutional crisis,” Thaci wrote on his Facebook on the evening of January 6.
According to the regional website Balkan Insight, Kurti has already twice rejected Thaci’s proposal to nominate a new “prime minister.” It is expected that Self-Determination will nominate Kurti himself, but the problem is that this “party” cannot agree on a coalition with a potential ally, the nationalist Democratic Union of Kosovo (UDK).
Analysts do not exclude the possibility of holding early elections, since the DSK threatens to leave the coalition if Self-Determination does not agree with the candidacy of the “president”, as well as the definition of the functionality of the prime minister.
At the same time, Albanian politicians completely do not take into account the interests of minorities, including the Serbian population, despite the fact that its candidates won a majority of votes in the enclaves, which means they are entitled to several positions in the government.
None of Kosovo's last four "parliaments" were able to complete a full term.
